Course Overview
The Certified First Aid Trainer Course offered by the American Institute of Safety Professionals aims to provide professionals with the knowledge, competencies, and teaching methods necessary to train people on first aid and emergency response. This program is developed according to standards set by the American Heart Association (AHA) for CPR and AED, the OSHA First Aid Standard (29 CFR 1910.151), and the First Aid protocols of the American Red Cross. Participants learn how to evaluate emergencies, provide lifesaving care to victims (i.e. CPR, control bleeding, stabilize fractures, relieve choking, aid the victim of shock), and maintain infection control and personal safety, and complete scene assessment. Besides practical first aid, the course instruction aims to prepare trainers on course design, adult learning principles, and training methods so trainers simplify procedure descriptions, maintain learner engagement, and assess training outcome successfully. The course addresses the assessment of risk, legal and ethical issues, and tailoring training for varying workplace settings in industrial, healthcare, and public sectors. Simulations, practical exercises, and other evidence-based methods build learner’s confidence in teaching structured first aid and improving preparedness on emergencies at the personal and organizational levels.
After completing the course, certified trainers will know how to run complete first aid training programs, promote a culture of safety, and recognize the occupational safety and health regulations, which will lead to quicker response times, better prevention of injuries, and improved chances of survival in a crisis.

Mode of Delivery
Participants will receive online training through Microsoft Teams and LMS. Courses are offered by accredited broadcasters and backed by expert instruction and official study materials. All assessments are conducted online and successful participants are awarded certificates that are accepted internationally.

- Industrial Hygiene: Exposure assessment and control of chemical, physical, and biological hazards, indoor air quality and ventilation.
- Construction Safety: Site safety planning and management, scaffolding, excavation, and trenching safety, fall protection.
- Transportation Safety: Compliance with DOT regulations, vehicle and equipment maintenance, driver safety training.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Root cause analysis, incident reporting and documentation, implementation of corrective actions.
- Safety Training and Communication: Employee safety training and education, communication of safety information and policies, safety participation and involvement.
- Professional Development and Ethics: Continuous professional development, ethical considerations in safety management, current trends and best practices in safety management.
- Certification Preparation and Exam: Review of key concepts and principles, practice questions and mock exams, preparation for the certification exam.
Entry Requirements
This program follows global workplace health and safety standards, and is taught by industry experts. Successful students receive an American Institute of Safety Professionals accredited certificate which is recognized by several employers and regulatory bodies.
Graduates receive a master certificate, course completion certificate (if applicable), an official transcript, a wallet card, and access to a professional safety network which promotes ongoing learning and career growth.
Program Duration
The program is designed to offer flexible online learning with a minimum instructional contact time of 8 hours. Most learners successfully complete the course within one month, allowing them to progress at their own pace while balancing professional commitments.
Examination
Candidates can take this exam through an assigned portal from the American Institute of Safety Professionals. A passing score is 70% or higher, and exam results are provided right after by email to the address provided.
The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.

The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
